Biographical Summary - Jan Montgomery
Jan Montgomery received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Coaching from Minot State College in Minot, North Dakota. She received her Master of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Behavior Analysis from North Dakota State University, studying under Dr. Raymond Miltenberger. Jan Montgomery became Florida Certified in Behavior Analysis in 1996, and Board Certified in 2000.
She worked as a behavior analyst for the State of North Dakota for two years where she developed behavior programs for developmentally disabled individuals and performed psychological evaluations. Following this, she worked as a behavior analyst in New Hampshire with traumatic brain injured clients including responsibility for managing a locked Neurobehavioral Unit. Jan Montgomery then worked as Director of this facility serving approximately 75 brain injured adults.
In addition to working as Area Supervisor for the traumatic brain injury program at Bancroft in Haddonfield, New Jersey, Jan Montgomery worked as a consulting Behavior Analyst in New Jersey and Florida where she assisted with behavior problems with a variety of children, adolescents, and adults.
Jan Montgomery worked on the pilot project of the Florida Behavior Analysis Services Program under Dr. Michael Stoutimore in which she taught Parenting Tools for Positive Behavior Change classes to foster, adoptive and biological caregivers and staff. She served as the Senior Behavior Analyst in Daytona Beach working with the University of Florida/DCF Family Safety Behavior Analysis Services Program. This included supervision of behavior analysts in parent training and behavioral assessments.
Jan Montgomery currently is teaching online with The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Applied Behavioral Analysis BCBA Respecialization Program and Florida Tech’s ABA Professional Development Program. She is the co-founder of Communication Strategies, LLC.
Jan Montgomery has presented regularly at local, state and international conferences and was elected President of the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis for the term beginning September 2009.
Other interests include active involvement in coaching and participating in both leisure and competitive sports with most recent activities in the areas of running and power lifting. She continues to practice and refine behavior analytic techniques for stable family life in the raising of her four children.
Catherine Williams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW and a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst, BCaBA with a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida. Her career in child welfare spans experience as a counselor and supervisor in foster care, adoptions, and caregiver licensing.
This experience with state government led to becoming a Certified Trainer and Job Coach for counselors and social workers in the dependency system and was an asset as she helped establish the pilot project and later the statewide program of the Florida Behavior Analysis Services Program. The program, based on Dr. Glenn Latham's work, brings behavior analytic approaches to child care for families and caregivers in the dependency population.
Her experience as a Certified Trainer and Job Coach with the University of South Florida was valuable as she helped develop and implement the curriculum for the program.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Catherine Williams provides supervision for Social Workers and presents workshops for recertification for Social Workers. She presents frequently at state, national and international conferences on a variety of topics relating to parent training, ethics and current issues in the fields of social work and behavior analysis.
Catherine Williams' passion about the power of behavior analysis led her to co-found Communication Strategies LLC, a company providing training and consultation for caregivers, social workers, behavior analysts and other professionals. Improving the skills of professionals in the fields of social work and behavior analysis through supervision and training is a primary goal.
As a member of the Executive Board of the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis, she works to continue to expand the scope of behavior analysis services to citizens in the general population, expand behavior analysis to other disciplines and promote the continuation of behavior analysis services in child welfare.
